Many orthodontic problems can be resolved easily at home, saving you the inconvenience of a trip to the office and waiting for a scheduled appointment. For information about common orthodontic emergencies and how to alleviate them, please visit the CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTIST'S WEBSITE at: www.cao-aco.org. After alleviating your discomfort, it is important that you still call to schedule a repair appointment, as broken appliances may increase your treatment time and affect your treatment outcome. You must schedule an appointment so that the proper amount of time can be allotted to repair your appliances.
True orthodontic emergencies are very rare, but when they do occur, be sure that we, or other experienced professionals in our absence, are available to help you. You should call the office if you experience severe pain or if you have a painful appliance problem that you can't take care of by yourself. We will be happy to schedule you an appointment to resolve the problem. After hours and on weekends and holidays, emergency contact names and phone numbers will be listed on the office answering service at (905) 387-2938.
